Huh, What?

ST 3G Speaks...
Speaker:Abhay Sharma

Whenever I ask a question to any member of the esteemed Sharma Family, the response I usually await is "Huh, What?". Seriously, I ain't kidding anyone. Try asking something creepy or unexpected to them, and they will reply as "Huh, What?".

And then the burden of repeating the question again comes forward. And if you repeat your query, they will take atleast 3.45 seconds (average) to respond. Yes really, I calculated the time using a stop watch.

Here is what Dr.B.P. Sharma speaks about this Huh, What? thingie...it's kind of diplomatic, so beware...

"Whenever someone asks you a question, reply by saying "Huh, What?" (even if you listen it), and then utilize the time he uses to repeat the question in the following tasks :-
*Why has that question been asked to me?
*If I answer positively, what can be consequences? (Same for negative reply)
*How should I answer it so as to be in the good?

And then answer the question. This is one trick for being witty and not getting spoofed by people."

That was some interesting teaching there, Dad, but really, can you ask and answer all the 3 queries within the time the person repeats his question?

Let's see:

Person:Hey chintu, can I take your PSP to my home?
Chintu:Huh, What?
Person: Can I...
Chintu (In his mind): Why has that question been asked to me? Because I have control over the PSP.
Person:...take your PSP to...
Chintu:If I answer positively, what can be the consequences? My PSP can get smashed, Papa can throw me out of the house, or I will have to bear another LOOONNNGGG lecture from Parents.
Person: ...my home?
Chintu: How should I answer? My father will scold me/ My brother will complain/ My sister has already asked to take it in her vacation, she would be arriving anytime.
Chintu:My sister has already asked to take it for her vacation, she would be arriving anytime.
Person: Cool then, bye.

Phew, that was some interesting stuff up there, but as per my calculations, the person will take 1.5 seconds to repeat the question, so you have 0.5 seconds to think and answer all three questions. You'd have to be pretty quick with that.

It would be okay to use the "Huh, what trick?" at times of distress, but would you appreciate if 90% of your questions have these types of answers? And then you have to repeat them all? Let's take a look:

Abhay:Papa, when will you get me an iPhone?
Papa:Huh, What? (He somehow asks all the 3 questions within his mind)
Abhay:When're you gonna get me an iPhone?
Papa:Get 90% or above.
Abhay:I got it.

-------------------------------------------------

Abhay:Can I use your cellphone?
Akshay:Huh, What?
Abhay:Can I use your cellphone?
Akshay:Low battery!
Abhay: I knew this was coming.

-------------------------------------------------

Abhay:When're you coming to Kota?
Dinesh:Huh, What?
Abhay:When're you coming to Kota?
Dinesh:Network Problem.
Abhay:As expected.
------------------------------------------------

You never know how irritating it gets when you get such answers, followed by a negative reply. You won't believe that till 7th grade I believed that my brother is deaf and needs an ear machine as most of his replies to my inquires were "Huh, What?".

It was after my 7th grade that I slowly absorbed the witty tricks of people like this one. And if someone asks me what this post is all about, I will just answer "Huh, What?"
